If you are a citizen from the EEA (European Economic Area) or Switzerland, you are eligible to work freely in Ireland without the need for a work permit.
The EEA is made up of the EU, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein and includes the following countries:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Cyprus
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Hungary
- Iceland
- Ireland
- Italy
- Latvia
- Liechtenstein
- Lithuania
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Poland
- Portugal
- Slovakia

Switzerland is not part of the EEA, but has an agreement that extends the single market to include it, so Swiss nationals are also eligible to work in Ireland.
Non-EEA nationals must hold a valid employment permit to work in Ireland. The up-to-date rules and regulations concerning work permits can be found on the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation work permit page: https://dbei.gov.ie/en/What-We-Do/Workplace-and-Skills/Employment-Permits/
