Our client, one of Ireland's largest and most successful electronics companies, is now hiring for the position of Senior Hardware Engineer to join them at their facility in Clare. They are a stable company developing and manufacturing new electronics products, using state of the art technology. This would be a great opportunity for an ambitious technology professional who wants to work in a long-established and growing company. The location is within easy commuting distance of Limerick, Ennis or Galway.
They are looking for a real RF enthusiast, someone who wants to develop expertise and make a career in this specialist area. The ideal candidate will contribute to design and simulation, but will be happiest in the lab, at a bench, surrounded by spectrum analysers, VNAs and other RF tools. The successful candidate will work closely with and be mentored by the Senior RF Engineer.
In your role you will be responsible for designing, testing and implementing Radio Frequency (RF) systems and devices that meet company and customer requirements. The role will include a mix of design, hands-on lab measurement and tuning work on the bench, and in the RF Anechoic Chamber, as well as supporting Approvals Testing in external labs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware and software engineers to ensure RF systems are integrated into products that meet performance and regulatory requirements.
- Design and Develop RF Systems and Devices, including antennas, filters, and amplifiers.
- Perform Impedance Matching, Measurement of Harmonics, Filtering, Tuning of Antennas, Polar Plotting, Range Testing etc.
- Develop test procedures to ensure RF products meet performance and regulatory requirements (RED, EMC, etc.)
- Research and stay up to date with industry RF Technologies, Trends, and Advancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional members in the team to ensure timely project completion, maintaining and updating documentation.
Candidate profile:
- Degree, or post graduate qualification in Electronics, Computer Network, Microwave or Telecommunications Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in RF engineering.
- Familiarity with RF design tools and laboratory equipment, such as Spectrum Analyser, Vector Network Analyser, Oscilloscope, Signal Generator, etc.
- Understanding of wireless communication protocols like Sub 1GHz, BLE, WiFi, etc. and Cellular Wireless Technologies like 5G, LTE, etc.
- Identifying and troubleshooting issues with existing wireless communication systems.
- Solid skills in soldering.
