Technical Lead, Software Engineering

Our client is an exciting smart energy management company with a global reach. Their Irish office is based in Castletroy, Limerick. They are part of a global leading technology group operating in large-scale smart energy solutions around the globe. Due to continued growth, they are now hiring a Technical Lead, Software Engineering, to join their team in Limerick. The role is hybrid, with 2 days per week based in the Limerick office and 3 days per week remote.

Job profile:

• This role will involve managing a small team, hands-on coding, and contributing to architectural decisions to accelerate and improve solutions.
• Lead and inspire a team of developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• This role will involve both design and build leadership aspects, alongside hands-on coding, with approximately 25-35% of time allocated to writing code.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in PHP Laravel and TypeScript, contributing to the development of key software projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions that leverage cloud technologies.
• Be a passionate advocate of CI/CD. Ensure team uptake of CI/CD pipelines to automate software builds, testing, and deployment processes, ensuring rapid and reliable delivery of high-quality software.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Career level is 8- 12 years professional software engineering experience, ideally with a focus on cloud-based or AI solutions.
• Strong expertise in PHP, Laravel and Typescript, and ideally some experience of Node.js and/or Python.
• Extensive expertise in CI/CD practices and tools, including Jenkins, GitLab, CI/CD, and Docker.
• Use of NoSQL (time series and big data), SQL databases and caching.
• Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role, with a track record of successfully leading and managing software engineering teams.
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies.
• Experience using Jira for project management and issue tracking.
• Native level fluency in spoken English.
• EC passport or a current Irish Stamp 4 work visa required.
• Experience in the energy industry and IoT desirable (but is not required.)
