Senior Software Engineer

Our client is an exciting smart energy management company with a global reach. Their Irish office is based in Castletroy, Limerick. They are part of a global leading technology group operating in large-scale smart energy solutions around the globe. Due to continued growth, they are now hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join their team in Limerick. The role is hybrid, with 2 days per week based in the Limerick office and 3 days per week remote. This role will involve working in a small multi-functional team, with hands-on involvement in design, development, and testing.

You will lead a small group of software engineers in the Energy Cloud team. This role will involve coding to accelerate and improve solutions, in addition to providing technical leadership to this small team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in JavaScript/Node.js, along with strong technical leadership skills, with a focus on peer review, technical direction, and coaching.

 

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering or a related field.
• At least 6 years professional experience as a Software Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/Node.js.
• Some experience of leading a small team of software engineers, or of managing software development projects.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices for building scalable, reliable, and maintainable software systems.
• Native level fluency in spoken English.
• EC passport or a current Irish Stamp 4 work visa required.

Experience of the following would be an advantage (however is NOT required):

• Experience using IoT frameworks (e.g., MQTT, OPC UA).
• Familiarity with Docker and cloud technology such as AWS.
• Experience with using SQL and Time Series databases (like InfluxDB)
• Skills in C/C++.
• Experience in the energy industry.
